Use a Nixplay Cloud Photo Frame as a Private Social Network for your Family

The Easiest Way To Create A Private Social Network For Your Family

Bigger is sometimes better, and this rings true for family. The bigger your clan is, the more love there is to go around.

However, working out how to keeping in touch can be a challenge if you’re in a big family. After a while, you find it difficult to keep track of who lives where, who does what, and which kid belongs to whom. It’s confusing, sure, but it’s all part and parcel of belonging to a large, happy clan.

This was certainly the case for Chris Hansen, who lives in Colorado but has family in Ohio, Minnesota, Utah, and Arizona.

“Since our family is so big, you can almost lose touch if you’re not on social media or not visiting on Christmas,” he says.

After exploring several options, the Hansens decided to get Nixplay frames, which offered an easy and convenient way to share photos in real time and gave them the opportunity to try family networking in a unique way.

“We settled on Nixplay because of the cloud function, where we could send it straight from our phones,” says Chris. “We really can share everything and not have to worry about [our photos being] out on the internet for everybody. It’s kind of like your own family’s internal social network.”

How To Share Photos Privately

With a Nixplay Wi-Fi Cloud Photo Frame, you can view, display and share photos with family and create your own private social network. We understand how important safety and security is online, which is why we want to give you some quick tips on how to share photos privately.

You can share photos and videos from your cloud photo frame in three ways.

Email

Establishing a secure private social network is made easy when each member of your family has his or her own Nixplay email address.

Your family can email photos to your frame by attaching them to a new email message, and sending it to your personal @mynixplay.com email.

To add photos in an email to a photo playlist, you can enter ‘pl: playlist name’ in the subject line.

When the photo has been delivered to your account, it will automatically be stored in the online ‘Albums’ section.

Online

You can share photos with your family directly from your Nixplay account online by adding photos to an album and creating a playlist for your frame.

You can add photos to your album from:

  • Your local drive
  • Facebook
  • Google Photos
  • Instagram
  • Dropbox
  • Flickr
  • Verizon Cloud
  • Received emails
  • Your mobile phone camera and camera roll
  • Your friends

Use the ‘send to a friend’ option to share photos privately and safely.

Using The Nixplay App

Family networking is made simple with the Nixplay app. All you need to do is download the app from the Apple App Store or from Google Play, and you’re ready to get started.

Once you have created an account and logged in, simply select the ‘Send Photos’ option from the home screen.

You can also add captions when sharing photos from your phone’s photo library, as well as send your photos and videos to different playlists.

At Nixplay, we want to give everyone the chance to share photos with family without the hassle—or the worry!

Haven’t Scanned Your Old Photos Yet? Here’s Why You Should Stop Putting It Off.

You or your parents probably have a bunch of photos that you haven’t looked at in months (maybe even years) piled up somewhere at home. For Ralph, a resident of Marlboro, New Jersey, that was certainly the case. He and his family had already displayed a lot of their photos around their homes, but they would need several more picture frames to accommodate all the memories they have immortalized in print.

When Ralph, his mother, and his sister each got Nixplay Frames, part of their dilemma was solved: They can now display multiple photos on a single frame, saving space and reducing clutter. However, they also wanted to see some printed images that were yet to be digitized.

“My mother gave me a box of like 300 pictures to scan and to put on a picture frame,” Ralph recalls. What seemed like an arduous task turned out to be surprisingly enjoyable. Watch Ralph’s story below to learn why:

This Is How One Military Family Stays In Touch

When you’re in a military family, it’s not easy to stay in touch all the time. The loneliness caused by distance isn’t always easy to overcome, especially when your loved ones are deployed in a faraway, war-torn location.

When Sherra Humphreys‘ daughter Rachel enlisted in the military, the proud mom immediately started thinking of ways to keep each other updated about everything happening in their lives.

“When you have a soldier [in your family], we kind of have a job at home to support them and make sure that they’re not really homesick and they can do their job well,” says Sherra.

“The immediate thing I [thought of] was, ‘oh, I’ll send you a Nixplay Frame and we can put a playlist on it, and we can update it, and it could play whenever you walk in.'”

The Easy way To Stay In Touch With Your Loved Ones

Your engagement. Your wedding. Your son’s first steps. Your daughter’s graduation.

Your whole family may not be physically present for all these occasions, but there are many ways to include them as you celebrate your milestones.

Take for example Rita, who lives in Massachusetts with her husband and children. She wanted to keep her parents Jim and Elaine, who live across the country in Washington, involved in her children’s lives. She gave her parents a Nixplay frame as a way for them to bond despite the distance.

“It was a way for us to share [with my parents remotely] what was going on in the children’s lives, because they’ve never lived in the same town,” says Rita. “The Nixplay frame will allow them to see immediate pictures of the kids at their sporting events, or at any family events we might have that they weren’t able to join us on.”

Your bond with your family is always worth celebrating. For Nixplay Family Week, we’re giving you the chance to show your loved ones how much they mean to you by giving them their own Nixplay Wi-Fi Frame.

One of the best things we have ever bought for our dad, Bill Hodges.

With the Hodges’ family spread out from Oregon to Virginia- this frame is one of the best things we have ever bought for our dad, Bill Hodges.

Bill is a wonderful father to 5 kids, grandfather and friend.  After the love of his life passed away after 62 years marriage- Bill moved to Virginia to live with Gene and his family.  He loved Virginia because the weather was so similar to Oregon.  After 3 1/2 years- he returned to Oregon to live closer to his 2 wonderful daughters, Nikki and Laurie.  After living with Nikki for 4 years- his health and home care needs led the family to move him to an Assisted Living Home.  For years, everyone had sent him pictures in the mail and he had placed them all over the walls.  It was hard for some family members to print the pictures and then mail them.  THEN- a friend told me that she bought Nixplay for her mother.  I got to see the ‘frame’ in action and I just knew we needed to buy one for Dad.

We had it sent to our Virginia home and got to work.  We emailed and texted all the family and told them how easy it was to ‘send’ pictures from their phones to the frame.  Within hours- we had over 300 pictures from Washington, Oregon, Nevada, North Carolina and Virginia.  College pictures, mountain scenery, wedding pictures, baby pictures, old pictures of loved pets- so many past and current memories that I didn’t know if we could forward this frame to dad because I was instantly in love with the pictures scrolling through all of our wonderful families.

We sent the frame to Laurie and told her, “All you have to do it plug it in.”.  She immediately plugged it in.  Bill was so happy

A tear rolled down his cheek when he saw pictures of Barbara (his wife), a laugh escaped  him when he saw pictures of his grand kids from across the country and a smile never left his face as he watched the frame go through each picture.

Gene has said that he thinks every Retirement Home should be required to place one of these in every room.

We have plans to purchase 2 more frames.  One for Nina’s parents and one for our own home. “
