6 Things You Can Do To Increase Your Luck This 2019

Luck: Some people are born with buckets of it, while others just can’t get on its good side. The truth is that getting lucky is a combination of being at the right place at the right time, and making the most of the opportunities that come your way. It’s not a magic pill, but a recipe with several ingredients. And the more work you put in, chances are the luckier you’ll be.

In addition, your perception of how lucky you are depends on your outlook in life. If you always see the glass as half-empty, then feeling lucky would not come easy. Optimists, on the other hand, will be able to see the silver lining in the most unlucky circumstances. Indeed, luck is what you make of it.

Even if you’re already the luckiest person on earth, you’ll agree that it wouldn’t hurt to add extra luck into your life! Here are some ways to do so.

1. Believe you’re lucky.

It all starts in your mind. Believing that you’re lucky will change your perspective on things, and will make you realize that you’re not as down on your luck as you once thought. A few positive thoughts go a long way!

2. Give yourself a chance.

Ever chanced upon a contest you wanted to join, but didn’t bother sending an entry for because you didn’t think you’d win anyway? When this happens, you’re depriving yourself of the opportunity to create luck for yourself. Always ask yourself, ‘what do I have to lose?’ Chances are your losses will be negligible compared to the potential payoff you’d get. Always go back to the previous item: Remember, you’re luckier than you think!

3. Remember the golden rule.

‘Do unto others what you want others to do unto you.’ Treat others with kindness and take every opportunity to spread joy and happiness, and you’ll find your good karma (and your good luck) increasing.

4. Practice Feng Shui.

The Chinese practice Feng Shui to bring balance, good health, wealth, and luck into their lives. Its basic tenets revolve around the flow of positive energy, or Chi. The more harmonious your surroundings are, the easier it is for Chi to flow freely. Some things you can do is to keep your surroundings neat and clean at all times, add plants to your home, and use crystals to amplify your energy.

5. Have a lucky charm.

There’s no such thing as too much luck, and it surely wouldn’t hurt to have a few lucky charms to increase your chances of success! And if you think that carrying around a lucky charm is childish, think again: Even high-profile personalities like former U.S.A. President Barack Obama, Olympic Gold Medalist Simone Biles, and Fashion Designer Tory Burch carry small trinkets to boost their luck.

6. Work harder.

Your journey through life can be compared to a stroll along a corridor lined with doors, wherein you have the option to choose which ones you’d like to unlock and step through. Some doors will lead to nicer places, but will require a bit more effort to open. Are you willing to put in the extra work to attain a brighter future? It’s all up to you.

St. Patrick’s Day Traditions You Should Join

St. Patrick’s Day is one of the most fun holidays in the USA. Even if you don’t have Irish heritage, you can’t help but want to join in the festivities. Good thing there are so many ways to spread the Irish cheer on St. Paddy’s Day! Here are some of them.

Wear green.

It’s not a proper St. Patrick’s Day Celebration if you’re not in green! Why green, though? Well, legend has it that mischievous leprechauns enjoy pinching people randomly. Wearing green, however, renders you invisible to leprechauns, meaning they won’t be able to pinch you. To play it safe, it won’t hurt to paint the town green on St. Paddy’s. You don’t have to be in head-to-toe emerald—accessorizing in green will do!

Attend a St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

St. Patrick’s Day has been celebrated in the USA for centuries, with several cities going all out for the occasion. A simple online search should reveal if there are any events in or near your hometown. New York City, in particular, is well-known for its festivities, which starts with Mass at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral before a grand parade that wounds around the metropolis.

Drink a few pints of beer.

To be more specific, drink a few pints of Guinness. The Irish stout, loved worldwide for its robust flavor, is consumed by lots of adults who are out the celebrate the holiday. If you want to join in the fun, you might as well first learn how to pour a pint of beer properly: Tilt the glass at a 45-degree angle and fill it with beer until it’s 3/4 full, then let it settle a bit before filling it all the way to the top. Cheers!

Eat corned beef and cabbage.

Corned beef with cabbage is considered a St. Patrick’s Day staple for historical reasons. When the Irish began immigrating to America, they discovered that beef was more affordable than pork (the opposite was true back in Ireland). The growing Irish-American population paired corned beef, which almost everyone can afford, and cabbage, which was traditionally paired with salted pork. The rest, as they say, is delicious history.

Look for a four-leaf clover.

A little extra luck never hurt anybody. And what better way to attract luck this St. Patrick’s Day than with a four-leaf clover, one of the ultimate symbols of luck? That is, if you manage to find one: the ratio of ordinary three-leaf clovers to four-leaf clovers is estimated at 5,000 to 1. You’ll be a lucky soul, indeed!

5 Things You Didn’t Know About St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner! It’s one of the most celebrated holidays around the world, marked by all things Irish and a whole lot of green. Embrace the spirit of the holiday with these lucky little bits of trivia:

St. Patrick was actually British.

According to legend, St. Patrick was born in Roman Britain and was kidnapped by Irish pirates at the age of 16. He was able to return home after six years in captivity, studying Christianity in Auxerre, France before returning to Ireland as a missionary.

The shamrock symbolizes the Holy Trinity.

Legend has it that St. Patrick used the shamrock, a three-leafed plant, to explain the Holy Trinity. This greatly boosted his evangelical efforts, as three was a very significant number for the pagan Irish.

The first recorded St. Patrick’s Day celebration happened in the USA.

And it wasn’t held in New York or Boston, but in the Spanish-held colony of St. Augustine, Florida, in 1600. The first known St. Patrick’s Day parade was also held in the same city in 1601, possibly due to the influence of the few Irish residents of the town.

Several monuments will turn green in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.

Over 400 landmarks around the world will be greenified on March 17 to join the St. Patrick’s Day festivities. These include Victoria Falls, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Sydney Opera House, the Burj al Arab, the Christ the Redeemer Statue, and the Empire State Building.

Lots of adults celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by drinking green beer.

St. Patrick’s Day would not be complete without a pint (or two) of this emerald concoction! The best part is that it’s so easy to make: Just squirt a few drops of green food dye into your beer glass, then fill it with ale. Cheers!

The good thing about the Chinese New Year is that anyone can experience it, whether you are in the US or Europe, you don’t need to make a pilgrimage to China as through their long and extensive history of trade, there are sizable Chinese diasporas in nearly every country in the world. We’ve compiled a list of the top places in the US to take in and capture the wide array of festivities to welcome to year of the Earth Dog – one of the biggest celebrations in the world – right in their backyards. There’s something for everyone and the best thing is, it’s all family friendly.

  1. San Francisco: In the US, most Chinatowns will be dazzling in red and gold. Our top recommendation is the one in San Francisco, being the oldest Chinatown in the country, they have things on for around 15 days including a massive parade that includes more than 100 floats, as well as performances with a 28-foot dragon dance as the highlight.
  2. Los Angeles: Fancy a scavenger hunt? The Firecracker 10k is the place to be. Whilst you can dazzle in the auras of the flower fair in Monetary Park. There is much more than celebratory spotting and plastic surgery contemplation as this time of year.

The extravaganza starts with New Year’s Day Firecracker Ceremony & Cultural Festival at Sara D. Roosevelt Park. The highlight of the festivities can be found by heading out to Manhattan, which has a large scale parade on February 16th taking place in Manhattan’s Chinatown. The China Institute of America also conducts workshops during the Chinese New Year weekend.

  4. Washington DC: No, Donald Trump isn’t coming out dressed as a dragon, but there’s plenty to do at this time of year in the nation’s capital. A lot of the buzz revolves around restaurants such as Ping Pong Dim Sum with its party brunch and the folks at Toki Underground will host cooking classes, there is no better way to get into the spirit by getting your hand dirty. This all culminates with yet another lively parade in Chinatown, which features much more than floats – kung fu is very much in the mix. An enriching experience can be found as the Smithsonian American Art Museum, which hosts a Chinese New Year event.
